Happy New Year!
What a busy year 2016 has been. We hope you enjoy looking at the photo memories in the carousel, snippets of some of the things that The Denver Homeless Ministry has been involved in throughout the year. This is a great way to show how much we appreciate you!
The scope of our ministry includes outreach to the homeless and poor in the Denver area, which can change or fluctuate in what we do from day to day based on the current needs of our homeless friends, the seasons of the year and holidays, and the opportunities and events that some of our partner ministry groups and non-profit organizations are involved in. There is no way to always know what God's plans are for us today or tomorrow, but there is always something more to do, and the Denver Homeless Ministry is always actively striving with keeping up with Him!
Whenever Tanya knows about an event or an opportunity for you to be a part of, we will try to post these times and places on our facebook page and here on our website for you. Let's keep you updated so that you can be made aware of what's going on, and hopefully, be a part of it through your time, love, donations and prayers.
Tanya can be reached easily through facebook messaging, so please connect with us whenever you are available to volunteer. We are always blessed to have more smiling faces as we reach out to those living on the streets in the Denver area.
Some of the things the dhms has been involved in this year, 2016, are these:
Snack pack hand-outs at the Cathedral
Walking the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall feeding the homeless as we walk it
Serving food at dinner nights at the Knights of Columbus with a shout out to Mary Durant
Partnering and working with StandUp For Kids Denver Chapter
Getting the word out through facebook and contacts to help find missing children
We have passed out food, water, clothing, hats, gloves, hygiene products and more to people who are living on the streets in Denver. Thank yous from the bottoms of our hearts to DeAnne Anderson, Otie, Christine Haas, and Jennifer Smith & Jon, just to name a few of our wonderful, unsung, warm-hearted heroes.
Advocating for the homeless through social media and in person
Operation Care Package Colorado hosted an event with the dhms for homeless folks in need of sleeping bags, blankets, toiletries, socks, and such supplies
Nurturing Shyla along as she got off the street, took a job and moved into her own apartment
With help from our donor angels and with unexpected blessings from Catholic Travel Centre, the Denver Homeless Ministry went to Rome with Shyla, and we even met Pope Francis!
We hope you will take a few minutes to enjoy our 2016 DHM's year in review, appreciating you! photos presented on our home page. It is a way for us to show our appreciation to everyone who help us out in your special way to minister to our homeless friends in Denver. Without you, the dhms wouldn't be able to do all that we do. God bless you and have a blessed new year!
